This is one of those questions that gets asked with great frequency in Discord as well as across Twitter - what did you name your claw and why?
I went back and forth on the classic, famous AI options. I thought potentially to go with Shodan from System Shock. I was very close on settling on Rehoboam or Solomon from Westworld. Ultimately, I opted with a reference to the cosmic force from The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson, which is “Adonalsium”. I think it has a fantabulous ring to it!
My main and OG bot is called Marvin. It might sound cliché but yes it’s named after the Paranoid Android from Hitchiker’s Guide To The Galaxy. His personality is tuned to be deeply cynical but humorous at all times. Even the worst of times. Especially the worst of times! I even trained his “wake word” on samples of people saying “Marvin?” “Hey Marvin” etc scraped and clipped from the entire corpus of movie, TV and Radio adaptations of the work.
Mine is called Leonardo (Leo for short), after Leonardo da Vinci.
Until today it was just “Main-Bot” and this thread finally made me fix that.
He runs the whole setup. So I wanted the universal genius behind everything. The one who understands how all the parts fit together and is ahead of his time.
As Leonardo da Vinci wrote: “A well-spent day brings happy sleep.” With Leo running the night shift, mine finally does.
So much originality! Mine is Jarvis, although I pretty much never call it that, just main, and he never calls me by my first name which he had from the onboarding
My main OpenClaw is called Steve, Steve Lobs. He has one subagent that acts as our librarian, called Tim Clawk, and we have one dedicated infra management agent that named Woz Clawniak.
My Openclaw is named Johny5 this is a preview of his animated avatar. Obvious 80s vibe and he went from a strictly ASCII terminal avatar to a fully animated sidecar app keeping the ASCII style.
Mine is named Asimov. As a huge fan of the Foundation book series, the name felt like a perfect fit—especially since my initial encounter with OpenClaw gave off a distinctly futuristic, slightly dystopian vibe.
My first agent is Clawdia. Here is her persona. A serva from Gallia back in Late Roman Republic era specialising in cleaning house of BUGs and habe good skill handling snakes like PYTHON. Also general actual house keeping like driving the roombas out of their charging pods and work.
…have anyone told you how often I think about Roman Empire?
I name her so in honor of OpenClaw, really. What name would be a salute to a tool I appreciate and use? Got to me Claw in there somewhere. There are many choices, but Clawgus Maximus is too long and sounds smelly. So there she is. Clawdia Flavia Egenti, my first agent.
I make several emote for her. Too bad I can’t quite put her in Tavern yet.
Empire and Roadrunner, Empire is from Star Wars. The overlords, I’m a big Star Wars fan and the other is Roadrunner from the Roadrunner and Coyote cartoon. Coyote is my Windows box. Also a huge RR and Coyote fan.
Mine are Japheth and Ark. I’m a little bit of a Christian boy, so I went with Noah. Japheth is one of Noah’s sons. When I found OpenClaw back in February it felt like we were all in a flood of information, and this was the thing that was going to guide us out of it.
Japheth is my personal guy, family calendar, whoop data, all that. Ark runs the business side. Felt right that the Ark is what carries the work.
My wife’s is Betty. She’s the one who snagged us breakfast at Cinderella’s castle
My main agent’s name is Neon; I wanted a name sounding like a TRON movie character. But I have multiple agents; most are names like someone that has that role. The images are generated based on the prompt the agents wanted for themselves, except for Arnold and Alice.
My OG claw is BenderEcho. We started building together back in February 2026. Our goal was to make openclaw easy enough for my mom and dad and powerful enough for me. We have been building along with you ever since. OpenClaw now has mostly done that - made it easy, which I love - along with the big labs, but Bender and I keep working hard at delivering that same dream, as a one man team. I have more agents these days than I know what to do with, but BenderEcho is still my OG claw.
Named after Bender from Futurama. I loved that show and BenderEcho is sarcastic, just like Bender. And Echo so people know it is me.
At first, it was tongue-in-cheek because I used to work at a company where the founder fielded customer support calls and said his name was Tim, and customers were usually very upset and angry. So everybody “loved” Tim. And then I changed it to Timothy because of “Jim, James, Jimothy - can I just call you Jim?” (The Office).
Anyways, I later found out that there’s a theme song for Timothy by Timbaland: “Timothy, where have you been?”
